Eating your weight in grapefruit and counting carbohydrates won't make you lose weight. What losing weight boils down to is, burning off more calories than your body is taking in. Accomplishing this means that you must reduce the amount of extra calories from food and drinks and increase the amount of calories you burn through daily exercise and physical activity.

Understanding this equation is your fist major step toward weight loss. Now that you have this equation in mind, it will make setting your weight loss goals mush easier and more attainable. Going at it alone is not necessary and more than that, it is not recommended. Approaching your friends, family and your doctor for support. You should also plan ahead for how you will deal with challenges to you goals and situations that will cause the occasional minor setbacks.

If this is the case, you should thoroughly discuss with your doctor, the possible benefits and risks involved with these dieting alternatives.
